Yanmar 27

So I'm looking at doing my first oil change on my y2k 340 and currently cannot find anything on the 27. Yanmar has a 29 on their site but no 27. My sale docs and survey say 27 but are they wrong? Or was the 27 changed to a 29? Discontinued? I don't have any thing (docs) in my boat that say. Serial Number maybe? Currently confused

Plate on Motor

Your motor should have a info plate some where on the top head cover with your model yanmar and all info.

The difference is probably in continuous rating Hp vs Max rating Hp. I have a 2GM20F Yanmar, with the 20 being its Max rating, yet it is considered an 18 Hp continuous rated engine. The oil currently recommended by the local Yanmar dealer is Shell Rotella A1 (30 Wt.) Heavy Duty Oil.

Probably a 3GM30F
Very much like a 3GMF, but more displacement.. Is a 27 horsepower continuous rated engine.. I think they quit making that model in 2003 .. Parts are readily available..

Oil Filter

Can you see the filter # and should be same as 29 and not much different,I use the same oil filters from old 2000 2GM on my new 2007 3YM 29 Yanmar.

Yup.. Oil filter is Yanmar Part # 119660-35150. or ya can use a NAPA gold 1568 or a Fram 3593A. Use a good quality diesel rated oil like Shell Rotella T (15w40) or the Chevron or ExxMobil equivalents. Takes a little less than a gallon of fresh oil.

Due to a brain cramp (AKA senior moment) I referred, above, to the engine oil as Shell Rotella A1 - that's incorrect. It is Shell Rotella T1 30W Heavy Duty.
