I need some help. I havea f9.9aem model serial 6gul. The lower unit is bad. Frozen as a rock. I am looking to buy an used one but my model number dont show in any books. Yamaha told me is an international number. I used it in my hunter 26 and I would hate to throw a good engine to the garbage to buy a full engine if I can repair the one I have. does any one know what will be the Part number to request it? I have seen many in ebay but dont want to end with a wrong shaft length. ChuckP

Chuck, If you do some research you will find that there are probably many different models, and years that use the same lower unit. I would think that just about any 9.9 lower unit, within a wide number of years will be the same thing. Probably most of the 8's too, and maybe even a 15. They may have different model numbers, but check the part numbers. If some of the internal part numbers are the same, chances are the lower unit is the same. Also, you may be able to repair it, if it's not too far gone. They are not very complicated.
