New to the forum.
My fuel tanks are part of the hull under the 1/4 berth and under the starboard lazarette storage.
Fuel line comes from the bottom of the internal tanks.
Return line goes back to the same fitting.
The top of the tanks is a fiberglass lid with a bunch of large screws holding down.
Only the port tank has ever been used.
Looks all factory.
Anybody else have this set up for fueL tanks?

What year is your boat? Engine in front?

I have a stainless fuel tank, starboard side. '83, engine under the companionway.

I recall seeing those tanks described as water tanks.

That makes sense.
The engine was removed from the front and put under the companionway.
so maybe the po decided to use the aft tanks for fuel. That may be why the fuel outlet is at the bottom of the tank. Most fuel tanks have outlets from the top.
The boats water tanks are under both settees
thanks for your response.

I have heard of boats with "built-in" tanks. Usually they are water. I would think fuel would be a bad idea.

Too prone for leaks that could be disastrous for the boat and crew.

These "tanks" are molded into the interior pan. They're pretty solid but I don't know what the effect of diesel storage would be long term. It also seems that drawing from the bottom would increase the likelihood of taking water or sediment into the engine.

I used the starboard one for my diesel heater. The port one is hard to get at so I store stuff I rarely (never) need there.
