The windows on my Yamaha 25 need to be replaced. I would like suggestions and recommendations about what window materials to use, how to cut and drill it (or get it cut and drilled) and installation. Thanks, Terry

I replaced the windows about half year ago, as the old ones aged and cracked. I made a 1:1 paper sample directly from the window, and asked local shop to make the new windows from the sample using 2.5mm acrylic. But I found 3.0mm should be better. I also noticed the port and starboard windows can be very slightly different in size and shape!

To remove, just un-screw the bolts, cut the sealant and remove the window. Thoroughly remove the old sealant and clean the sealing surface before applying new sealant.

I used Dow silicone to seal the windows, but only found that it doesn't last long. I will need to redo the work soon.

i will go over the same soon... my port side windows have a small leak so i will remove both to seal it well. The work done before is worst than bad!!!
I've no idea what sealant to use but some chinese friends here advised me to use some kind of 3M sealant for windows for the bed and then finish it with maritime silicone.
I will try to document the process with pictures when i decide to start it... the weather is getting cooler now so it's time to do some work... windows, lazyjacks, VHF antenna, etc...etc...

Ooops?! Recently I've been reading this forum with my mobile, and seems there's something wrong with the app (or I didn't know how to use it). It didn't notify me there is new messages.

Anyway, I've been busy working on my mast and rigging these weeks, so I must have missed out some of the messages.

About the Dow silicone, I am now using Dow #793 instead of #791, as I preferred colorless. But I have a feeling that they might be very different. It seems to me #791 won't hold long enough.

I haven't refit my windows yet. But I'm going to replace it with Lexan.

I have used the Dow 793 in the window (2 layer of 3mm acylic), it has last for 4 years . so far so good. The original is 4mm , but I found difficult to bent it .(the opening of the window is a slightly curve)

BTW , where you get the Lexan ?
