You should watch the videos from Yachting Monthly on Youtube. They have a crash test boat and show techniques for things like plugging broken seacocks to dismasted sailboat. They actually dismast a boat in 30 knots of wind and show how clear it. Watched a ton this morning. Good stuff

Watch the one where they roll the 40 ft boat upside down. It is frightening to see the floorboards and seawater flying about.

Funny a 6mm pin with a low breaking point kept the rig up on the dismasting video. It took a full genoa in 30 knots to drop the rig and it was painful to watch.
