Yacht legs?

I found some (brand new) yacht legs in a box when I bought the yacht and
I have fitted them today... not sure when I am likely to use them. Has
anyone any experience of their use and any tips ref. setting up? It
looks like (from pictures) I need to fit ropes to bow and stern cleats
and set the legs at the correct depth... what is the correct depth? How
steady will the yacht be when they are in use - can you walk about on
deck?
Any comments from those who use them will be much appreciated.

A very lucky boy, they aint cheap! Wonderful pieces of gear for drying out and staying upright. Lines fore and aft on both sides. They need to be slightly shorter than keel.

Just looked up the price! Over £1000 - quite a find... that is over 25% of the purchase price. They seem very well made and "solid".

Wow !!! If you ever want to sell them drop me a line! I've got some tubing ones in the works (on the back burner while the Ballad gets all my attention). I like the way your legs attach to the hull. I wonder if they sell those brackets separately? Maybe next time you have your camera out could you get a couple of detailed photos of them?

Anyway, my experience with my fence post legs: They're fixed length, about 2" shorter than the depth to the keel, allowing the keel to settle into the bottom a bit. I can walk around on deck and the boat is quite stable, (nice long keel to sit on) and will even rock side to side a bit, which is good because I know the legs are not taking the weight of the hull, just the balance.

They're a great piece of gear to have, as you can dry out in a shallow bay, change zincs, or make repairs to the hull (or prop!) between tides.

Thanks for posting the link to the photos, your little ship is looking really good.

I was lucky to find them! I saw a cardboard box on the floor but it
was covered in rubbish so I did not know what was in it! They are now
fitted and seem to be of nice quality. I will take a detailed shot of
the fittings tomorrow... general shots are here..

can't wait to try them!
