Electric Head

Good Morning Paul, By electric head are you talking about a vacuum toilet something like an eco-toilet from Sealand Dometic? I have a vacuum toilet from Sealand Dometic installed in my 310. The discharge from the head goes directly through a vacuum generator into the holding tank There is no direct overboard discharge, hence no requirement for a 'Y-valve'. It also uses fresh water from the tank forward. Be careful about water usage! If you run out of fresh water (which happened to me after a guest (my mother) used all of our fresh water to wash bar clams we had dug that day on a beach in Eastern Canada. I had to go out that night in a pouring rain storm to press the FW tank so the head could be used by the same guest! We laugh about it now. Regards, Chris

A scientific WAG...

My WAG is that you don't have a "Y" valve. My boat doesn't have one. I don't know if they changed the plumbing design without updating the drawing or perhaps they route the plumbing different for boats that are being shipped to inland dealers. My toilet is plumbed directly to the holding tank and there is a macerator pump off of the tank to pump overboard.

C310 Head Discharge "Y" Valve

Paul, When we purchased our boat new (Nov-2002) the discharge "Y" valve as shown in your drawing was a dealer-installed item; it did not come that way from the factory. When I found that out I opted to not have it installed. For our use I didn't need the feature of discharging the head directly overboard, by-passing the holding tank and I figured one less thru-hull is one less thing to maintain. So, mine is just like Mark Z described in his reply, and has worked just fine for us. Gary C310 #230 "Rhythm"

Y Valve

Can you find the 1 1/2 inch through hull that one leg of the y valve would connect to? I'm betting it is capped (if equipped). My 1993 C36 has that through hull capped, and the head goes only to the holding tank. Unless you ordered it, or the dealer added it, it is probably not there.
