Xantrex Freedom 20 died

Has anyone have the Freedom Combi 20 charger/inverter die. Yesterday it stop working and I think it might be heat related. After I plug into shore power the unit indicates there is AC available and about 5 minutes later it shuts down. Since the AC is routed through the unit I get no power onboard. I have sent a tech request to Xantrex but have not heard from them. Has anyone sent a unit back for repair? What did it cost? Jim "there will no coffe this morning" S/V Java

Disconnect and ....

connect it back after 1:02:03 of 4/5/06 and you won't have no coffee either.!!!

Had a Similar Prob

and it turned out to be the board which was repaired at the local electronics place for about a hundred bucks. Good luck. Rick D.

My inverter died two years ago and when i call the teck he told me that i should try removeing the unit and hooking it up on a bench with battery, and pluged into the wall for shore power and see if it works Mine did then i had to fix the boat check all wires and switches ( my swiches where bad)then hook to one battery at a time First i mite try a new spot for shore power I dont think you could over hear the unit. The guys told me that the unit would last about 10 years and they would check it outfor me N/C John
