X-5 Autopilot fluxgate compass

I am replacing my ST4000 autopilot with an X-5. Do you think I can use the old fluxgate compass with the new AP? It would save me some time.

yes you can. i replaced my st4000 with x5 and installed additional flux gate at different location. that way i've a choice to test and see which works better. old one in bilge ahead of engine by 3ft facing aft. new one at rear berth bulkhead facing forward. so far rhe new one works ok. old one also ok but need to recal x5 due to 180deg facing difference.

I replaced my St4000 last year after a lightening hit which fried the motor. Raython sent me the new X5 but I kept my original flux compass and rudder sensor from the ST4000. The new X5 works pefectly.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep the current fluxgate for now. Good to know I have a backup.
