Do you drive one of those amphibious things....?And I thought I had a bad day when my car got hit by a canoe.
Pretty wild! I can see the coupler popping off for a variety of reasons. I guess the safety chains broke as well or perhaps were not on in the first place. The boat broke off it’s hitch at the top of that slope, and came down probably 100 feet of it at 20° pitch. Probably hit going about 30 miles an hour. People had to scatter, it’s a miracle no one got hurt.
yes, a lot of people are trying to figure out exactly what happened. Mostly insurance people. The club has signs all over the place that you’re not allowed to approach the ramp without safety chains on. It’s possible to do those wrong, it is possible to do that with bad chains. We’re guessing that next year they’re going to have marshals at the top of the hill who will verify correct and proper chains before a boats allowed to turn down the face that ramp.Pretty wild! Yeah. Mark ducked. His crew in the passenger seat was half way out and way lucky to get away ok.My bets are on human error not mechanical failure... something like the driver was having trouble maneuvering and decided to unhook and reposition the tow vehicle and the loaded trailer just took off. Looks like a busy ramp, was your buddy in the truck?
