OK this is NOT sailing related but I think we can all respect folks at the top of a sport who push the envelope. This guy is simply amazing. Having raced and ridden BMX, road and mountain bikes I only have one word for this guy. WOW!

Not just do that, he does it with the grace of a dancer. Those 12+ foot landings he tends to make look like he landed on a feather bed.:)

I also raced for many years. And I have seen this kind of confidence and balance and never understood it. I was also a race promoter and once employed a young boy for some in between events entertainment. In front of the grandstands he takes his road bike up on the back wheel and begins riding like a unicycle. Pretty good we thought. Then he somehow pulled out the handlebars and kept that in one hand while still riding on the rear wheel. In the other hand he pulls out the front fork with wheel! He would ride straight, then spin, then straight some more. He put it all back together while riding, took his money, and headed for home. Geez, I could barely ride no hands to zip my jersey. A little off topic but I still ride because it keeps me in shape for sailing.

Lars does everything to the extreme. A couple of winters ago he was looking to subdivide the 20 acre piece of woods on the side of the mountain where the video was shot. I got the tour of the property with a foot of snow on the ground in a Rhino that he threw sideways every chance he got. I think we even got air at one point.

He tells me that now at age 30 with 2 kids he measures his chance of success before he attempts certain stunts (tricks?). When he was young he only needed a 20% chance of no broken bones. Now he draws the line at 50%.

His brother is a marine pilot in the port of NY/NJ. The 2 of them and a 3rd guy (also a client) went motocross across Central America last spring. 3 crazy guys on 2 wheels in the jungle. Go figure - I heard they got robbed at gunpoint a couple of times.

Scotland looks stunning!

My youngest son (he's 22) has been in Scotland since August soaking up the culture. He's at University in Glascow but started his trip by traveling to Edinburgh. By now he has been to Isle of Skye but he stopped bloggng just as I was really getting into his trip. The little twerp hasn't been in touch since September and I'm a little worried about what's going on ... what with his taste for whiskey and all ...

If you like some of the scenery you watched on the clip you should try sailing amongst the islands on the west coast of Scotland. Its a bit like sailing Down East in Maine but without the ledges and fog but all the beautiful scenery. Also, the Highlands and Island tourist board puts out large amounts of mooring balls all over the area, all the same colour so easy to identify (and they dont cost a penny) unlike the $40 a night that i pay in this area. If any one was serious about cruising on the west of Scotland, i have a friend who instructs RYA courses and cruises all in his lovely X412, try www.scotwinds.co.uk Needless to say, i am a bit biased, i spent my first 40 years there.

I was just doing some riding like that the other day with my West Marine Port Runner folder...one wheel up and around the bow pulpit while sailing in 20 knots. Piece of cake.
When I get the boat heeled far enough, I can ride the windward shroud up to the first spreader. Pretty neat.
Sorry, the video camera fell in the water. Maybe next time.

Ian, where are you from? My wife's from Edinburgh, and they have a time share at Loch Melforty on the west coast. I love Scotland. When we go, we see a lot of family and friends, and my wife always apologizes becausde of that, but I keep tellingn her, going to Scotland, even seeing family, is wonderful!!!

Hi, I am from Glasgow but spent 31 years in the Royal Air Force, flying the Atlantic and hunting subs, got to see a lot of the west coast and the inner and outer Minches from the air and also under sail, its a lovely place and if the summer temperatures were 10*C warmer, it would be perfect .:dance:

i loved scotland--so beautiful--just very cold--was there in an august. we went to northern highlands, culloden, loch ness, edinburgh and some of the places clan macpherson used for their territory.
that bike riding looked like a waaay fun and hairy way to have fun breaking bones--LOL-- scenery is gorgeous and he is goooood.. wow!!
