Background, First mate had authorized the purchase of the Garmin 3010c. I had shopped around on the internet and was able to find the best price at gpsonly.com for $2029. I know that West Marine and Defender will meet the price. So at the boat show both said they would meet the price and we purchased from Defender. I have a soft spot in my heart for Defender - they always have treated me fairly and with good prices. So we walk away visiting more tents and come upon Boaters World. Stop in to check prices and saw the 3010c with a crossed out price of $2499. Asked the sales what is the price and he stated $1834, I almost shit my pants. My wife's jaw dropped and had him repeat it. Next to the display was the full networked version and he stated the price was $2220. Wife says back to defender to see if they will match the price. Defender guy's jaw dropped and said youre "KIDDING" and we all went back to Boaters World and the prices were confirmed. Defender said I'll give you your money back and go buy the network version NOW. That is below cost. So that is what happened. I got the full netwoked version for $2220. Damn I LOVE these boat shows!!! ;););) Jim S/V Java

Yep....I heard the same at West...

Sales guys says there is all out warfare among the big stores at this year's show. They can't even figure out what the other guys are asking for stuff and it's basically a bidder's market. You got a great deal. I'm going back tomorrow (Mon) to see what the last minute deals are.....

You should have purchased a pair of the Sperry Red and White boat shoes for $5.00 at Boater's World. (Just make sure you do not look down- they are bright.)

Add me to the list of "theives" at the boat show. My wife is starting a book to bring to next years show. Lots of great deals going on, a lot of stuff at the normal or higher prices also.

Got to wonder about BoaterWorld and price

We decided not to go to the boat today, needed to cut the grass - its been raining for three days. I checked Boater's World prices on the web site and they are NOT extending the good deals there. the Garmin 3010c GPS - web = $2499 show = $1834 3010 network bundle web = $3299 show = $2220 I imagine they have deals on Raymarine also.. Sorry guys I have all the shoes I need.. Like Doghouse said prepare a list and go have fun. Jim S/V Java

Was back today...

(3 days at the show, don't ask how I managed that.) Overheard another price beater between Fawcett's and HH on rainwear. Apparently one had dropped to 40% off today, the other was shocked because their policy was to meet or beat. There was a group of about 5 guys all wanting the same thing. From the sounds of the reps, it's been a tough show. Anyone see the Bene 57'cc? Wow...my new "if I win the lottery boat" (replacing the IP48cc). Didn't care much for the new H45....nice layout but the exterior wasn't for me.

ADD THE OBLIGATORY "SIX PAIN KILLER" SURCHARGE AND WHAT DO YOU GET? THEY SHOULD DO LIKE IN MEXICO- WHERE THEY THROW IN DRINKS TO SWEETEN THE BARGAIN. THE LYMAN MORSE SEQUIN 52 BY S&S WAS THE BELLE-O- THE-BALL. GOZZARD AND CABO RICO'S STEAL MY HEART.
