Seattle weather fun facts (or not so fun this year.)

The total tally was 273 minutes Sunday (4 hours, 33 minutes) bringing our entire Seattle summer experience up to a whopping 351 minutes.
Also of note Sunday, Everett was warmer than 75 degrees for the first time this year (they hit 78).

From www.komotv.com

I thought it had been a tad cold and wet. I live East of Everett.

Don't complain about fair winds and sunchine.

Had Sendoff for a friend Sunday headed back to California

We just had a sendoff yesterday for a friend who is headed back to California. They had lived here over eight years and you'd think that after all that time they would have acclimated but they couldn't take it any more. They're moving to the Sierras down near Placerville.

Actually, this probably isn't the wettest "summer". Back in 1986 we had "measurable precipitation" every day during the month of July. The black asphalt parking lot outside our office was actually green - from moss!

Even today a lot of roofs, driveways, patios, lawns, and sidewalks have moss. I washed the car a couple days ago (weather it needed it or not) and had to use a fine brush to remove green stuff around the windows and other joints in the bodywork.

Unfortunately a lot of chemicals get used to try and kill the moss and of course some of those chemicals are harmful to small critters and also find it way into storm drains, streams, and probably aquifers.

Looking at the gutters I see there are a few places where plants are starting to grow out of them. Time to break out the ladder and get to work cleaning them out. Ugh!
