i have deciduous bottom growth and some huge fishies keeping the stuff off my hull.....and is only 85 or so degrees out, after a warmer than that day.....water temp is still 86-88F in pacific ocean.......

I will just say I'm not ready. The fall in the north is too darn early. I was in a coat on Labor Day and Memorial day. My southern bones aren't happy at this latitude. /end grumble. SC

Our nights have been dropping into the 50's recently, and I've been considering if I should pack up and head south. My Dad is flying out on wed with the intention of going on a 4 day sailing trip, he's talking about destinations for a road trip instead of going sailing if it doesn't warm up. This is coming from a man who did a single handed transatlantic crossing on a 32 footer back in the 70's, and remember that was pre GPS, so he navigated the whole way with a sextant.

Great here on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain.. Going to be in the high 60's tonight .Cool compared to what it has been like. Just in from having a nice Sailor Jerry nightcap in the cockpit.. Too light to go out today but we did a lot of dock walking and just messing about.. Air conditioner is running now but won't be needed later.. Excellent to see our fall come in too..

went to la mona pizza for a nice night out with the boys--had some fun..sat in the sunset watched it go away from bright red-orange to pale as we ate and had some beers.... was a nice night--85 degrees and about 80 or 85 percent humididity...smooth mirror-like water--- sweeet night in pair a dice--even the flying monster bugs were gone somewhere else....

i am a gurl and is FUN to go out with the boys.....

Maine Sail..................

Here on the Great Lakes we have a "real fall". Sweater weather. Fewer "rec" boaters, more water men. It's one of the best seasons of the year, football on the radio and good air in the sails. The only down side is where autumn leads us, winter.

I spent upwards of 40 of those winters where you are, just North of Canada.

Sailing in Dungarees & Sweatshirts

Spent last night at Still Pond after a nice afternoon sail in easterly winds. 1 sailboat, 1 catamaran & a single power boat for company. Overnight the winds kicked up and rounded from E thru N.

Rowed the dog to shore at 7 this morning w/ temp @ 50. Brisk NE winds in the mid-high teens heading back to the Sassafras today.

Gotta love fall sailing!

Do you have a heat source? Been in the lower 40's and without heat it's real cuddling weather. I was thinking of adding an oil lamp. Not sure if that would raise the temp much in a Cat 30?

Quite a change from the last two weeks in the Cape Cod area. When we weren't dodging rain storms, we basked in the hot sun and swam in the warm water.

It's been calm and quiet here on Monhegan with a real nip in the air this morning. It's just me and a handful of Guillimotts that have put on their winter plumage since I left.

I love fall sailing too, you can't beat it here in Maine. October is often the best sailing time for us. Warm days, cool nights. It's all too short. Then we get our snowboards out. Winter's too short too.
