Would Cetol harm Butyl?

I am planning to rebed the wooden grab rails with Butyl from MaineSail and coat it with Cetol.

I read somewhere about Butyl dissolving by petro products.
My question is: Could Cetol harm the butyl? I am sure I will be recoating the wooden pieces many times over the years, and during recoat, some of the Cetol could go in the Butyl.
I am wondering if it could slowly cause the Butyl to decay - and I would be better off fusing Sika caulk instead?

Thanks

As long as your not globbing it on the butyl will be more than fine. Once it cures any potential softening stops and you'll be fine. There are lots of Sabre's out there with butyl bedded toe rails doing fine. Many have had 50+ coats of varnish over the many years since they were first built and bedded with butyl..

Don't want to Hijack this but your answer raises a question.
On our 38' 1988 Sabre I have noticed several places were the butyl has extruded out from the hull deck joint and subsequently broken off. These are 4- 6 "s long and 1/2 to 1" in width, and I have found them in the forward berth and elsewere. No leaks that I know of ( from these anyway ).
It looks like the original that was used and has extruded out over time. It's old, dry and only somewhat pliable.
Anything to worry about ?
Thanks
