Low Oil Engine Alarm Works
I bought the boat last year and it was filled with all sorts of extra parts, equipment, etc. I decided to clean up the boat and unloaded all the equipment so I could do a good cleaning job. Decided to go up to Oriental, NC which is about 2 hours sailing. About 3PM decided to return home. 10 miles from home, I heard a loud buzzing sound and the engine RPM dropped to 1500. I remembered that the engine, a 40 HP Yamaha had an alarm when the oil level is low. I said "no problem", I'll just put a quart of oil in the engine. Woops, every drop of oil I owned was in the dock box. I motored back and got to the marina about 4 hours later, just before darkness set in. Still beats working.
