Your 20 ?

I sailed for about 10 years on a lake. Then I bought a hunter 30 from a broker south of charleston, sc. I figured, hey I got some time on the water, I'll sail it the 180-200 miles back to Sneads Ferry, nc myself: I found the bottom about a mile from land (ft sumter, sc), I turned on my spot light about 30ft from running full bore into a grove of cypress trees at about 23:00 south of myrtle beach, sc. while motoring from the cape fear to the ICW through snows cut at carolina beach I was spun around and spit back into the cape fear by the strong tidel current. I grounded six times in the new river inlet off topsail isle just a mile from my destination at midnight ( i was in the channel but it had shoaled over). the marina owner told me the next day that he had lived there his whole life and would never have attempted that inlet/river at night. I have since learened alot about sailing the graveyard of the atlantic. the 1st 10 years I learned just enough to get myself killed.

Someone who's cocky . . .

Doc, Someone who's cocky would have never ask the question you did. I really respect you for putting it out there, then honestly looking at the feedback. Fair winds!
