"Chula Vista, Ca." teak lumber This will produce three pages of possible teak sources in your area. Teak scrap can usually be purchased at a specialty supply cheaper than red oak at a big box store. Boat builders used to give me the stuff, but many are now farming the joinery out offshore or using StarBoard, so it is getting hard to find scraps. Have fun.

Brian, If you plan to have a movable

table, give consideration to the finished weight. Teak is beautiful but heavy, Cedar is pretty , very light but so soft that a dinner plate set down hard will mar it. All wood is strong enough for what you want. If you read the discription of willow wood; light, soft, brittle, weak, you would never think that anyone would choose it for cricket bats but that's what they use.
