Safety issue

I don't ever recall hearing of anyone being pulled from the ocean clinging to a piece of fiberglass or steel.

Having seen a core of the hull of this particular

boat which was three layers running at angle to each other and being 3" thick. I doubt strength would be an issue as compared to fiberglass.

ker-moor & old school

Caguy, I read the logs of the Ker-Mor after you posted the link....what a great story...it inspires me in much the same way it does you. The Mariner 32 is an incredible boat, either in fiberglass or wood. Below is a link to one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen, check out the cockpit seats. Ross, I too learned my electronics in the Air Force in the age of tubes...My boys play rock and roll and still have a couple tube amps that they love. Knowledge and wisdom come with age. Thank god they just didn't throw us away when we started showing a little age...I'm pretty well maintained and have a few good years left in me...haven't met a younger model that can replace me yet.;D'D;D

Guy, Oh yeah. And synchronizing fax machines

that burned the image into paper. What has always amazed me is they did the Apollo missions with less computered power than I am using right now.

If you get shipwrecked in a wooden boat

you can burn it while you wait for someone in a fiberglass boat to rescue you. ;D

Yes it would.....

Well , its nice and refreshing to see a more light hearted thread. Whats the deal with all the combativeness lately? I hate to admit it, but I too get caught up in the frenzy. I'm sure ole Phil has his hands full lately or he would have removed some of my replies. BTW, am I the only one that misses Franklin on here? Tony B

Yeah, it's been a tough week...

I got twinged in "That" thread too and he had to nuke one of my posts before I could nuke it m'self. I'll try to be good in the future. So, whaddya guys think of that wooden boat I posted a link to? I'm seriously considering her as Mamma really likes it.

Charlie...

If you got the money and thats what you want....go for it !!! I personally wouldn't. Even though I may have planned on it being my 'last' boat, you never know what life deals you. If you wanted to sell it, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise. As soon as you have anything "unique", you immediately lose the largest share of the market. A wooden boat these days is considered "unique" and if you had to sell it, most people wouldn't touch it. These days, wooden boats just scare people. Has nothing to do with how well its made. buy it

Charlie... buy that beauty....you'll never regret it...and the little lady likes it,too. you can always blame it on her if anything goes wrong...not often you get that kind of leverage. What a gorgeous boat. Steve

No wood boats, but I do have a

brand new Laney hand wired tube amp for my lap steel guitar. There is nothing quite like the warm sound of real tubes. I also have a solid state Roland Micro Cube amp for a portable. Any musicians out there, the Micro cube is the ultimate boat and travel amp. Goes for four or five days of heavy playing on 6 AA batteries, or plugs into 110 or (with an adapter), 12 volt. Reverb and other effects, and it's loud enough for a small pub gig. And under $200. The Tube amp was more like $1200.
