Hi folks, getting ready, (Finally) to pick up the boat! I will be using the cradle as part of the trailer, in other words, I will drop the cradle and boat, (Oday 22) in between the rails on the trailer where it will rest on three crossmembers. My Question is this; Can I use treated wood to support the keel, (It is a shoal draft model?) The wood would of course be submerged when putting in and out, otherwise it is just supporting the Keel. Or should I use some sort of Marine type wood. I am using a 2X12 X 10 feet to lay in the cradle to support the keel. Thanks in advance. Jack

Treated wood is fine

Having replaced a number of rotten trailer bunks over the years, I can tell you that treated wood will be a big improvement over what trailer manufacturers provide. I use pressure-treated wood when I make replacement bunks.

Trailer Keelboard

I also used that greenish treated wood, but also covered it it some plastic type indoor/outdoor carpeting. It helps with "sliding" the boat on and off the trailer. You can find it at Home Depot.
