Does anybody know why the impeller on my knot meter is attracting metal particles which stop it from turning? The knot meter is on the bow section of my boat, and for the past 5 years,the boat has often been beached, but this year the impeller is attracting all kinds of metal particles and the knot meter does not function until all the metal filings are cleaned off the impeller. Why??

The impeller of your knot meter has magnets imbedded in the blades. Thats how the sensor can read your knot speed.:wow:
Now over time these magnets may start to rust and swell slowly disintegrating. Which means the paddle wheel impeller will need replacing at some point soon.
Would be really nice to have one that could atract gold!- Status
