WM in Riverside, CA & Chicago, IL

I might have a business trip to Rancho Cucamonga (CA) and Brighton Park, Chicago in next few months. Wondering if the WM Stores in these area are large enough to make a visit worthwhile. :dance:
1. 24 miles from Rancho Cucamonga to WM at 10081 Indiana Ave Ste A-3, Riverside, CA92503-5412
2. 10 miles from Brighton Park, Chicago to WM at 627 W North Ave, Chicago, IL60610-1011

The one on Riverside, CA is not large, catering more to trailer boaters. It does, however, have a decent inventory for larger boats too. I often stop there to pick up supplies. If you are just browsing, I'd suggest going further to Minney's Marine Surplus in Newport Beach.

chicago is just your basic west marine store, but there is a guy named steve, i think he is the manager. he has great knowledge of sailing, racing and rigging. call to make sure he is there to answer any of you concerns.

Try the WM on Shelter Island (San Diego). They advertise themselves as having everything in the store that's put in their catelog. I visited once and they seemed to have everything you could possibly want. Price is another issue.

Whoa! that's probably 150 miles from where I'll be:eek:. It better be worth it !! :doh:Thanks for the heads up.:D

PS: if you do go to Minney's in Newport Beach, there is a WM just a couple of miles away. It's a good store.

Ok so I should do a store lcoator search for WM at Newport Beach?

From Minney's Marine, continue about a mile south to Pacific Coast Highway east. Go east on PCH a couple of miles. It is on the north side of the street, past the BMW dealer and just before the Ferrari dealer as I recall.

BTW, the coast in this area runs east-west rather than north-south so the directions aren't always intuitive. Also, getting to Minney's is easy in that the 55 freeway dead ends and becomes Newport Blvd. which is what Minney's Marine Surplus is near. Minney's is on an access road that runs parallel to Newport and is visible from it. It is on the left (east) side at a signal. I recall that it is the last signal before you get to PCH. Good luck. Minney's is a great place to check out used and surplus gear. Newport Beach is a great place to prowl and if you are a YC member, Bahia Corintian YC is a nice and friendly place.
