I had damage to my radar cable from a Raymarine Digital radar and had to cut it. I bought a new Raymarine cable for digital radar and went to connect them together. The old digital connections were identical, including the braided shield wire. I connected these with a terminal block. However, the power wires on the old radar cable are red, black, and a braided shield around them. The new cable, has a red, black and a green wire? I know the red and black are DC positive and negative respectfully. Do I wire the braided shield from the old power cable to the green wire from the new cable? Any suggestions? I have contacted Raymarine technical support on the internet but have not received any reply? Does anyone have a phone number for Raymarine Technical Support?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think your assumption is correct. Green is often used for ground. Braided shield is always ground.
