Wiring Question

Does anyone know of a way to neatly provide slack (So that electrical devices can be moved to convenient locations to service). For instance I would like to have the battery on my runabout tucked way into the transom, but I want to be able to pull it out to service and at least initially with the cables connected. And since the bilge pump attaches and travels with the battery, I would like slack there too without a mess of wiring. Is this possible?

Uhm, wouldn't a little bit of extra wire, tied up with cable ties, go a long way to answer your desire? It's a very good idea, BTW. :)

Make a big loop with the wires and cable tie them together. Or....install a red and black battery buss in an accessible area.

It's called a service loop, mate. Anytime I install electronics I put in a small coil of wire in case I move it slightly, or more important to redo the connections if I desire, without having the wires so tight they barely meet. This is a little detail that most builders seem to miss..

What Chris said^^^

I've been working on electronic equipment for over 30 years both on Navy submarines and on all manner of "civilian" equipment. It seems the concept of a "service loop" may be a dieing idea. Since your loop would not be exposed to the elements rather than a zip tie a velcro wrap might work to keep the slack contained.
