Bought a 94 T-30 and immediatly had a failure with the depth sounder. Probably the transducer. At the same time bought an Autohelm auto-pilot. Am trying to figure how to replace the transducer wire (Track from transducer to the instrument head) and how to get the wire from the electric compass from the midship mounting point to the pedestal guard. There MUST be an easier way than drilling paths all the way. I need some experienced help. Thanks

Just replaced mine

I just replaced mine,1989-30, they may be similar. I have a combined speed/depth unit. The two wires ran from the thru-hulls at the forward floor compartment hatch through the compartments under the port seating, up through the head comprtment liner to a cover plate in the ceiling. then exposed to the instrument on the bulkhead. Tied a string to the wires, pulled it out attached the string to the new wires and pulled it through. That was the concept, in reality getting the new wires through the existing holes took some work. That job was 1-2 hours. The big job was that the transducers were a different size than the old ones. One transducer was too large, increased hole size the other was too small requiring more sealant and a lot of checking. There should be power for the compass light in the pedestal so check its route, it may go to the panel.
