Wiring in a Bilge Buddy

I am trying to wire in a Bilge Buddy electronic bilge pump switch. My boat uses a regular 12v Flowjet type bilge pump rather than the little pedestal types most usually seen in small boat bilges. The instructions say to wire the black and red to the negative and positive battery source. No problem. But my pump does not have the brown wire called for. Any idea how I can get this item installed? The bilge on my 352 is not deep enough for a regular float switch (which was originally installed). Thanks.

Cant be sure what your setup is. I think, if the pump has only power and ground, you need to route the hot (power) wire through the switch, and then to the pump. Thus, the pump gets power only when switch trips.
