Wiring a combo deck/steaming light

I can’t figure out how my new led combo deck/mast light wires up. The light has three wires; white, red, and black. Coming out of the mast is a white, green, and black. This harness came from CD and worked previously with the old incandescent fixture. Inside the cabin is a switch for each light. The switch fuses are not blown. I’ve checked that the new light fixture is working: When I touch its red and black wires directly to the battery, the steaming light is on. When I add the fixture’s white wire with its red on the battery, both deck and steaming is on.

The black is a common ground, red is steaming light positive and white is deck light positive.

I infer from your post that you are using the original Electrical Panel. Have you considered upgrading to a fuse free panel such as CD's current offering? The newer panel will allow you to add an anchor light in the future and it could be your new harness is configured for that.
Here's a link to Jim's Little Boat video describing the change out:

What Deck Light combo did you settle on? I replaced Waffle House's exposed combo deck light with a sealed unit while at the same time, upgrading to the latest Electrical Panel. It's not a difficult upgrade just a bit uncomfortable as one needs to be a bit of a contortionist to reach the area where you wind up locating the negative buss bar.
