I have an 83 H34 and am finally getting it ready to float. So today I got around to looking at the mast. It has wire jib halyards. Is this standard? I would like to change to rope only. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks

Hmm- my 83 does have a CDI furler and the halyard on it is wire- is that what you have?

I have a Harken furler. I wonder if I need to change sheaves if I change to rope only.

You may need to change the sheaves- they should be metal if you have wire halyards and they get rough from the cable.

Like Richard says you may have to change the sheave if they are rough.
But considering that it's your Jib halyard how many times a year are you going to be raising and lowering your jib?
If your like me only once or twice a year.
By the way my halyard is rope.
