I want to add a 1-2-B switch between a dedicated engine bank and the 2-bank house batteries. There is no way to kill the power to the engine in the current configuration. I found this out when I tried to tighten a high-pressure fuel fitting that was near the positive lead of the starter. Also, I would need a battery jumper if and when my engine battery goes belly up with the current configuration.
I am thinking that I want to connect the heavy cable from the starter to the 1-2-B switch. I need to buy some battery cable but I don't know what size to order. Would 2/0 gauge be sufficient?
The engine is a Perkings 4-154 and develops 60 hp. I don't know what size the current cable is nor how to measure it. Any suggestions?
