Hi all,Other than changing the oil, what else is typically done to these deisel engines?AlsoI am wondering about antifreeze for these engines. It gets a little cold here in the winter. Thanks,Peter
1. Change the oil and filter.2. Change the primary filter and empty the bowl of any water3. Change the secondary filter 4. Bleed the air rom the fuel lines5. Get about 4 gallons of -60deg. polypropolyene glycol (RV Antifreeze)6. Remove the cooling water thermostat7. Disconnect the raw water intake8. Fill a bucket with the antifreeze and setup the raw water intake so that it draws coolant from the bucket. Have someone run the engine while you keep the bucket full of coolant. Stop when coolants is seem exiting with the exhaust. 9. Top off the fuel tank.10. Close the fuel valve at the tank.11. Remove the air filter.12. Using the hand crank with the exhaust valves open spray a bit of diesel fogger into the air intake.13. Close the exhaust valves and replace the air filter. If there may be lots of small criters around you may want to stuff a rag into the air intake. Before starting the engine in the spring don't forget to open the fuel valve and remove the rag from the air intake.
