For anyone seeking an alternative to full wraps and covers, I'd like to mention Crash Wrap weather barrier film, which I located via the Internet. Just prior to my haulout, I covered several "weak points", especially the inward-opening portlights. It went on easily, exactly as advertized. I used the 5-mil clear and it appears to be durable enough. Time, of course, will tell.

I've seem similar...

...(if not the same) stuff used on a power boat taken to a boat show. It was used on the rugs where people would walk. It stayed in place and provided excellent protection from foot traffic.

Good for the entire boat?

Has anybody used this to wrap an entire boat for the winter? How did/would it hold up over a tough Kansas winter? After spending too much time wrapping my O'Day 302 last weekend, this material looks to be much easier to work with than a couple of plastic tarps? Would this weather an entire winter? Does it retain it's ability to stay "stuck down" in cold, windy weather? Thanks

HOW ABOUT THIS STUFF ???

I was considering "Stretch Wrap" available at OFFICE DEPOT...sells for less than $25., and comes in over 1000 ft rolls for my Roller Furling. But Ive since made a long tube of 4" Sewage Pipe, capped on one end. IT WORKS GREAT for "off the boat" storage. But the "Stretch Wrap" stuff still sounds good for other areas of the BOAT. Its used commercially, and I've seen it on bundled products hauled cross country on 18 Wheelers. It's gotta be Tuff Stuff the many ways its being used...ANYONE TRIED "Stretch Wrap" ??

Lower Cost

One of the worst thing you can do is wrap-up a boat real tight with so called shrink wrap. The old blue (or green) tarp seems to work best. If you can see the tarp "breath" as the wind blows.....you know that air is moving through the boat. That is what you want. Besides its a alot less $$$$$ Good Luck

winter tarp

I just made a frame out of pvc pipe to tent my 222 and cover with a 20x30 tarp. As Warren said you can watch the boat breath all winter. It keeps the boat clean and protected all winter. The only thing you have to do is wash off the muddy paw prints from the stray cats that warm themselves on the deck on the sunny days.
