winterizing water system

need to save a couple $$ this year. i'm going to leave the engine work to the yard but thought about doing the fresh water system myself. assuming this isn't too involved (realize this is covered elsewhere but need to let them know today).

Not involved at all. Most of us here do it ourselves. Cost is just a couple of bottles of antifreeze. Look at previous threads.

I started doing my own winterization on all the fresh water, heads and ac myself. Saves a ton of money and it really is pretty simple. Lots of good info here on this site. Good luck, you'll do fine.

Saves more than expensive labor , if you blow the lines out with a compressor or shop vack, you don't need antifreeze. I used a total of 2 gallons this year, one for the head and 1/2 for the shower pump and 1/2 in the bilge pump.

I refer to adding a few valves to make the job easier; it really helps and will pay back the effort in one season.

I keep my boat in the water and sail all year (when the slip isn't frozen) so there will be small differences. Primarily, you need to flush glycol into the holding tank (after draining) and you will leave seacocks open on the hard.
