Winterize
Steve,A simple way, not saying the best way, is to shut off the intake thru hull valve, disconnect the line, place the line in a bucket of antifreeze and turn the unit on. The pump will suck the antifreeze up into the line. When you see the red antifreeze exiting through the discharge thru hull, turn off the unit and replace the line. After the boat is pulled, open the thru hull valve and drain out the last of the water that was in the valve, some of the red stuff will also drain but thats ok. Leave the valve open. In the spring, close the valve before the boat goes into the water (my quirk). My unit will always develop an air block that just opening the valve and turning on the unit will not clear. So, with the valve closed, disconnect the hose after the pump. Apply air pressure to the hose and blow the red stuff out (tasts terrible) through the discharge thru hull. Connect the hose, open the valve, turn on the unit and watch the water go through. It will take a few seconds. If you don't see water exiting the thru hull discharge turn off the unit and trouble shot. Other than forgetting to open the valve or not clearing the air block, this has always worked for me.Good luck,Les
