Winterizing a Hot Water Tank

I finally realized how stupid it was to pump 6 gallons of anti freeze into the hot water tank and disconnected the feed and the out lines from the tank. Nothing came out when I disconnected as I had emptied the system by the running the faucets dry. On the hot water tank, the lower connection is water in and the upper connection is hot water out.

Anyways, I plugged up the IN line to the hot water tank and ran anti freeze through the rest of the system. Then I unplugged the inflow line and let anti freeze run through it as it emptied into the bilge.

There must be a small amount of water in the bottom of the round hot water tank, but I figure it will not hurt anything as it will expand like an ice cube tray.

Am I overlooking anything here?

Not understanding what you just did. I take the two hoses off the tank and connect them together. Then I drain the tank by opening the valve on the bottom and the pressure release on top. I pump anti-freeze through the lines but you could also blow them out.

I disconnected the hoses and sucked it dry with a shop vac.

You will regret using anti in the lines come next spring. Yes it is non-toxic but it tases really bad and getting the last remaining drops from the system takes several tanks of water. Which is why I opt for either blowing out the lines with air or filling them with rum (to be recycled the next season )

I am fully involved in the RV industry and have a question ..All RV water heaters{ that look like Seaqrd 6 gal squre tanks} have a cold water intake towards the bottom of the tank and a hot water outlet near the top with the pressure relief vavle... why the difference with Seawrd where the inlet and outlet nearly side by side
