I'd like to be reasonably sure that I'm not trapping water anywhere when I put my 1986 Hunter 23 on the hard for a long winter in Minnesota. It'll be a frozen tundra up here by Thanksgiving! I'll make sure there isn't any under the seats or floor boards, or in the lazarette. Are there any other places I should be looking at? I'd hate to see ice expand and damage anything. I'll pull the sails, battery and motor and store them in a nice, dry, heated basement for the winter. Anything else I should be carefull to do?

de-humidify

i would put a heater or dehumidifier in there now and get it cranking to evaporate as much as you can and leave it inthere for the winter

Put the foam cushions in the basement

Steve: Bring in the cushions too and put them in the dry heated basement because they soak up the humidity and get eaten by, well, rats. Trickle charge your battery or at least charge it once per month. Storing it in a cold area, say unheated garage, will also extend battery life. Here on the west coast, I am just getting ready to put "Ariel" in the water! - Kevin.
