Be Careful

The frame is not strong enough to support the boat blocked up just anywhere. Either block up the axle or in several places along the frame if you are wanting to get the weight off the springs.

Covering the tire to protect it from UV damage is a good idea.

Re: Be Careful

Trailer tires spend most of their life in storage. This is ideally done in a dark, cool garage at maximum inflation pressure. Anything you can do to replicate these conditions is good, such as tire covers or shade from a tree or building. The same inflation pressure used for travel should be used for short term storage. Because some common pavement surfaces are not compatible with rubber in long-term storage, a thin piece of wood under the tires will slow the inevitable tire rot.

For long term storage the recommendations are different: Put the trailer on blocks to take the weight off the tires. Then lower the air pressure and cover the tires to protect them from direct sunlight. For winter storage I block the trailer up at each axle, and take the opportunity to inspect the brakes and repack the bearings if necessary.
