My wife and I loves sailing and boats; We are from KY.; we was wanting a warmer climate to winter on the water that would not break us up; I know there is a lot of places we don't know about; we would like East of the Miss.; it could be a lake, bay, etc and we don't mind temps in the 60's; any places, please let us know; we are open to many options Tom C.

Boy, this site has it all

I would think Florida's intercoastal would be a ball. It's not nearly as tropical in the winter as you might think. Cool, dry air with temperatures in the 60's or 70's. The protected waters of the intercoastal offer marinas{year round}with lots of towns to visit. You could see Florida from Coast to Coast. It would cost a few bucks but what doesn't. Try the library for a few travel guides. Funny thing is.. I am visiting a town that others had recomended from this site. I don't think it would fit your winter plans but we are traveling this summer to a small town with a large lake {75 miles}at the foot hills of the Appalachians Mountains. The town was talked about on this site, inexpensive and not to far from home. 600 miles, no airports, we are driving to it to take in some scenery. From toilet repair to vacation spots, you can ask it here! Good luck, Jack

Ky Lakes

Caverun Lake, Near Morehead, KY very clean and clear; but also there is Cumberland Lake 3 hrs from our home; both are great lakes; Cumberland has hundred of miles of shoreline and anchors will not work (very deep); but it's not a good sailing lake. Tom C

If you don't mind 60 degrees, go south. Here in SW Florida it goes to the high 30's when it is cold. Many folks from here have been moving to Lake Telico in Tennessee, both for cheaper housing and no hurricane threat (It does get cold and snowy, etc there). I am going to live with the hurricanes so I can stay on the ocean. (You can't go to the Bahamas from most inland lakes(;.

Tom & Richard

Tom, sorry to take from your space. Richard, to answer your question we are traveling to the Guntersville,Al. The lake looks beautiful and I just didn't feel like flying this time. Should make for a couple of nice weeks away from the heat and humidity. {we hope}. Anyone want to give me a few tips on the area?? thanks, Jack
