Yeah, what is that? I saw it earlier too and thought it was a helium party ballon. Maybe it was a signal balloon saying don't hit me, I'm firing up the auxiliary and heading in. Especially considering all the other boats off the bow that crossed the finish line?
Maybe it's not that funny. But if a racing machine passed your stodgy racer/cruiser, and you had to hail them to keep their sprit pole out of our cockpit, and the wind shut off, and you got to watch the great equalizer - no wind - you might be amused. It is schottenfreude. It was even better when we passed them because the current carried our hull faster. I'll see if I've got something else.
I don't know. It is on the original image. Maybe a kite sail - but there wasn't enough wind to keep one up. I didn't notice it. Sharp eyes there - JSG!
