I have a oday 25 that has a shallow draft winged keel with the shorter mast.In searching the forums I cannot find any reference to anyone else having this type of rig.Does anyone know how this boat handles compared to the c/b or fin keel.I have just put the boat in the water last week for the first time.

Not a production feature

If you have a winged keel on your 25 it was not a production feature. The 25's I am aware of had either a shoal draft centerboard with a short mast or a fin keel version with a slightly taller rig. Some posts I have read here suggest the 25 sails better with a little more ballast (about 200 pounds), but I wouldn't know, ours is stock. Perhaps a previous owner placed the additional weight in the wings. Good sailing!

Yours is probably a 240

Hi Dan, Congradulations on the new boat. I think your boat is a 240. It is 24'-7" loa. There is one one our lake but have never sailed it. The 272's sail nicely with their wings. Let us know what you think after that first trip out. r.w.landau

If that wing is like the 272 wing ...

the best upwind performance is heeling around 15-20 degrees ... even if it means having weight on the downwind side. vic "Seven"
