Does anyone know if the 1990 28 (wing keel) can stand on the mud/beach/railway on its keel without damage to the keel? Motoring speed is about 5.5 kts at 2500 to 3000 rpm with the Yanmar 2GM20 diesel. Seems like it should be 6 kts or more. I'd like to set it on a tide grid or railway but don't want to damage the keel. Any advice? I'd like to think the boat could go on the bottom without significant damage. Thanks.

The challenge will be to get the boat out after you beach it. That's why wings are refered to as danforths. They got too much press during the Americas Cup in the mid 80's. Few people will ever own more that one of these. Daryl

Designed for the load

If you store your boat on the hard in the off season, it will rest on its keel during that time. The jack stands will provide the balance and the keel will take the major load. If you want to clean the hull, take the boat very slowly to a sandy beach at low tide (assuming you are on the ocean) and just before she touches bottom, run out the hook. You'll have 1-2 hours to work on the bottom with snorkling gear.
