As I was working on the bottom of my '78 H 27' and preparing it for a mid april launch, I began to wonder. My craft has a shoal draft, 3'3", 4' of water at least. The keel has a triangle shape. Approximately 3' top to bottom and 9" wide at the bottom. The bottom of the keel is reletively flat. I looks like wing of some sort could be bolted to the bottom of the keel, adding 3" or 4" of depth. Many shapes come to mind. Here are the questions: 1) would a wing help in steerage or pointing or in any other way. 2) would the keel bolts withstand the added strain. 3) would the sail plan still drive the boat properly. 4) what would be the best shape for the wing, and 5) would it cause problems under power? If any one knows anything about this I am interested in the idea.
