We purchased our new 2001 Catalina 400 MKII in the fall of 2000 and have really enjoyed it. We have made many storage upgrades, but still have not figured out a satisfactory place or method to stow wine. We presently place the bottles on either side of the hull in the shallow cabinets of the aft cabin, but that is not real convenient. If anyone has any ideas for a wine rack location(s), we would greatly appreciate the input. Thanks so much.

I generally only carry three bottles of wine on board at a time as heat, cold, vibration, etc. is not beneficial to your wine. I've sent along a photo how I carry my wine. The system works great and I have never had a bottle come out of the rack.

believe it or not-

Believe it or not, I have heard that the bilge is a good place for storing while away. The bottles, in ziploks and perhaps some sort of padding, stay closer to the water temp than air, which helps it keep on those hot days when the boat is closed up. Doesn't improve any on convenience, though. And do you have to convince a guest to drink- "No its fine, really, it was in a ziplock" :) Maybe its just a way to have more for yourself...
