Windows/Portlights

I am in the process of refurbuishing my Vega and am now getting to
the point of replacing the portlights. Can anyone offer advice on
replacing the originals with new units? I looked at the Bomar 3000
series and also the ones available via the UK Vega site. Thanks for any insight.

I replaced my window gaskets based on a recommendation from the old Vega
Newsletter.

About $100 for rubber gasket, chrome filler strip, and installation
tool(needed!) A bit of a hassle getting it in. Get a glazer to do it
unless your handy. I bedded mine in silicone sealant which added to to
complication and was probably un-necessary ended up being all day job, but
it looks nice and does not leak. C.R. Lawrence @(888) 421-6144 makes the
materials but you'll have to go through a local glazing contractor to order.
The chrome strip was part no. 713080. I do not know the no. of the gasket
itself since I though away the carton.

Good luck whichever route you go.

Hey Folks,

Forgive my ignorance, but I too am thinking of replacing the gaskets on
my windows, and I have the new gaskets, and the "TOOL", but I am not sure
what role the tool plays, and how do "DO IT" so if there is anyone out
there that can guide me I would be VERY grateful........ I have heard of
using some sealant, but am not sure if it is needed. Right now, every
time I wash the deck, black crude comes off of the old window gaskets,
and I would like to get rid of it all.......... any help would be
appreciated.......

thanks

Hal
