In the middle
Dick, I'm sort of in the middle on this one. I've just gone through the same drill on an 83 O'day 23 that I just bought about a year ago. I found that the solution was obvious after I did part one of what Justin recommended. I began the task of taking out the windows. After I had removed the screws that hold the inner retainer in place, in my case, I found that both aft windows almost fell out the calking was so badly deteriorated. The two forward windows had obviously been recalked earlier and were still in good shape but I took the opportunity to tighten the screws to insure a leakfree invironment for the season. I would also check all of the rest of the throughdeck fittings at the same time so you only make the mess one time. If your leaks were as bad as mine were you may want to inspect the lighting fixtures as well as the leaks may have traveled into them at althought they may look fine from the outside they may be a problem. I've replace all mine with new and did a continuity check on the wiriing at the same time with the help of a friend with those skills. My own sense of the 23 is that it is a wonderful compromise. Good space not too many gadgets to fail, easy to singlehand but enough space for visitors to come along. John
