My cabin windows are crazed and I would like to replace them sometime. The new ones from D&R are expensive. Anyone have any experience with having them dupicated locally and reinstalling them?

try Petersen Brothers in Chicago, Il. They have made every replacement window (6) for my ODay 272. Installation was easy once removing the screws, slipping a cake frosting tool between the hull and window, removing all adhesive. Then re-install your new windows using Dow 795. Oh' buy the way, Acrylic is prefered over lexan as it will last longer. And Petersen Brothers stocks many, many colors of 1/4" material.

You can also try Piedmont Plastics. They have multiple stores around the country and I'm going to have them make new hatch boards for my O28. Google them for the nearest location. max

We had lots of rain this winter and I noticed a leak in the cabin. Rain water was dripping in from the port cabin light. I used a water hose to trace where the water may be coming from and believe I have found the source. The previous owner had paid the marina personnel to replace both side windows a few months before I bought her. The port window is cracked through and through at a couple of the screw holes and the window is loose allowing rain water to run in behind the window. Apparently they did not use the right or right amount of sealant and also over tighten the screws cracking the window. There must have been two different installers as the starboard window is fine.

I ordered a new window and sealant from Rudy at D&R this week. So I will be doing the window job as well this weekend.

Tom, let us know how that project works out. I'm hoping to get one more season out of mine after rebedding the starboard side but new ones are in my future. My 28 developed leaks from all 4 opening ports over the winter but new gaskets and one being rebedded fixed that. Now if I can only track down several stubborn leaks from the sail tracks.... You still happy with your boat?? max

By the way, scratch my earlier post on Piedmont plastics. I found them to be waay to expensive and got wildly different estimates from different locations. I'm back to square one on hatch boards. Any suggestions??? max

Hi Maxxx,
I'm very much still pleased with the boat, I have spent much time putting my touches updating her. Been on several mini cruises and placed 2nd in my one regatta with her.

I received the replacement window today along with the Black Dow Sealant and D&R gracefully sent installation instructions. I'm going to trace out the window on some craft paper so I have a pattern if I ever need another.

Tom
