The portal cabin windows on my 22 have seen better days. The windows are discolored and have internal spider cracks. The cracks are internal and don't effect the windows ability to keep out moisture/water.

I was considering tinting the windows from the outside. That way the cracks would be hidden from the outside view. The inside has curtains so you can't see the cracks.

Would the tint last if applied to the outside?

I'm no tint king expert Spooled, but I would imagine with the potential to have air trapped in the small cracks, under the tint film, when the sun raises the temp of the dark film and the air trapped beneath it.. it would expand the bubbles and make the tint look shabby. Like some rear windows of cars in warmer climates. That and the UV exposure, plus weather...
Might be a better idea to replace the plexi with a tinted material. My 2 cents..

Never used that particular VHT product, though I did use a VHT epoxy suspension paint to paint the boom of my 15 footer (and probably the mast this winter, also...)

You COULD try this stuff. But I think you know the right way to fix your window issues: replace them. I don't think a translucent coating is going to do much to reduce the appearance of the cracks and crazing in the windows...

The windows aren't cracked externally. They serve there purpose I just figured I may be able to make them look nicer.

Let me know if you end up trying one of those methods. I have the same problem with one of my windows and I really don't want to replace it. It doesn't leak - just trying to make it look nicer from the outside.

Whisper 92, I will keep you posted. I ended up taking on a home project. I will get to the windows but it may be in the spring.

I took one of my big windows to a plastic shop and they CNC/laser cut 2 new ones (including screw holes) for $100 out of 1/4" UV protected acrylic (plexiglass). Mine are 11"x48".
