After much though and after reading everyone's post 100 times, over and over ... I've decided to go ahead and lay out to big bucks for the sika product. My plan is to eliminate the ugly aluminum framing and bolt design for a surface mounted port lights. I'll be using the original (lexan I think that's what it is 
?), infilling the holes with smooth black barrels and purchased 3M adhesive tape to hold the lights in place while the sika dries. Did I make a horrible mistake or will this work?
Here are some pics of the lights off.. they definitely needed reconditioning
