I have leaks in two windows on a 81'. I have removed and replaced the inner rubber gaskets and still leak. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tom

Sorry, but it sounds like you're gonna have to rebed those puppies. Not technically difficult, just a pain. Be sure to rebed with something like 3M 4200 (I've said this a thousand times but it's soooo important) which is a "sealant," as opposed to 5200 which is an adhesive. If you were to use 5200 & developed another leak, God help you cuz you'd never get those *&%#$*$&# things off again! Good luck! LaDonna

to LaDonna. He re-bedded two windows with 5200 and now they leak. The only thing I could do (since they won't come out) was drill a small hole in each lower corner of the frame to the outside that lets the water out when it fills under the rubber seal. This seems to be working but drilling holes to let water out is a very bad habit to get into with a boat. It's even worse to drill them below the water line!!! :>)

Silicone
Tom, I just redid 3 of my larger windows,replaced the rubber that I got for 4 cents a foot at the hardware store and then used a little tool I got at West to spread silicone evenly around the window (instead of my finger) it worked very well
I found that without the silicone my one window still leaked but no more. Use something like 4200 and not 5200 if you need more seal on the frame, mine were ok there and I guess it's 18 years old so that stuff lasts. Mike WD9EOU C-38 #169
