Window Caulking

Has anyone re-caulked their plexiglass side windows?Mine are begining to leak and it looks like they were originally sealed with black silicone. I intend to use the same, but was wondering if their is anything I should be aware of prior to starting the project. Do I need to remove the inside wood moulding etc.?Thanks in advance!

Window calking

The window opening is rectangular, and the window isn't. The surface covered by the lexan other than the opening has a dark piece of plastic for asthetics that you may want to replace because of mis-shaping over the years in the sun. When reinstalling the window be gentle with the screw torque; enough to hold it securely but let the caulk do the work. Even if it doesn't crack on reinstallation it may later under the stress of sailing and sun. Mark Major s/v Lesismor 86H23

Dan , last year I replaced one of mine that was cracked, got new one with caulk thru Hunter, it was if I remember in the 80 dollar range, it was with out a doubt one of the messiest jobs I have ever done to a boat or otherwise, this stuff is bad, if u get it on fiberglass and you almost can not avoid it , get it up right away, a small speck becomes a long streak , not sure what caulk came with it , usually every year or so I clean , remove the outter white cauld and recaulk that and if you can get away with doing it I would , in closing he was not kidding about torque carefully , I finally had mine all done looked good cleaned it up and was giving the screws that one last quarter turn for good measure and it cracked, good luck hope this helps some one Mike Bacome
