Just FYI, we've been using a Ryobi cordless "power cleaner" as an anchor washdown (RYOBI ONE+ 18V EZClean 320 PSI 0.8 GPM Cordless Cold Water Power Cleaner (Tool Only)-RY120350 - The Home Depot). I'd say it's easier than a bucket and we're happy to have it, but it doesn't do a great job when things are really muddy. It just doesn't have the power and volume of washdowns I've seen on other boats.
The wash down pump is super easy.
First, and most important things: don’t buy a cheap one. Get the highest flow rate. Johnson makes a good pump with 5.2 gpm.
So, you’ll need to install a through hull fitting and gate valve. Use bronze for everything.
Lastly, when you remove the forward Fiberglas bulkhead in the 40.5, you have full access to the “guts” of the chain locker.
You can install the water outlet on starboard side.
I gather you’ve had the FG panel down already
Make sure to run. #10 wire to the pump.
Good luck
